Mary Lou and Bill Hill Host Art Exhibition at The Grandin Theatre Art Gallery
During the month of September artists Mary Lou and Bill Hill will exhibit their art on the second floor of the historic Grandin Theatre.
The Hills are native West Virginians who met in a class at their alma mater, Shepherd University, where they minored in art while majoring in Home Economics and Political Science, respectively. They moved with their two sons to Salem in 1969 to pursue their careers of teaching in the Salem School System and at Roanoke College.
Now retired, they have more time for amateur painting and the League of Roanoke Artists, for which they are currently co-treasurers. The family has grown to include a daughter-in-law and four grandchildren. Out of the group, several have serious interest in art. Granddaughter Isabelle had works on display in this gallery two months ago in the Salem High School exhibit.
Mary Lou specializes in acrylics while Bill leans more to watercolor. They choose subjects widely. Currently, other paintings of theirs may be seen in shows at the Salem Museum, the Jefferson Center, The Bower Center in Bedford, and several retirement homes in the valley.
All proceeds for the benefit of the Grandin Theatre Foundation.
