The Grandin Theatre transitions to renewable energy with support from the
Clean Valley Council
With the support of the Clean Valley Council as their new Clean Energy Partner, since July 2019 the Grandin has been receiving all of its electricity to power the Theatre from renewable energy sources. The conversion to green energy sources is made possible by the new Wind/Water/Sunlight Tariff program offered by AEP, which allows residential and commercial customers to pay more to ensure energy they use comes from clean, green sources. The additional cost to the Grandin Theatre Foundation annually is just about $1000 per year, which will be covered by Clean Valley Council through June 2021.
At The Grandin Theatre we want to make sure that we are at the forefront of ensuring we constantly strive to do the right thing and be the right kind of role model for our community and the patrons and guests we serve. As an organizaiton, we want to be conscious about our environmental impact and ways we can lessen it and focus on sustainability for future generations.
The AEP Wind/Water/Sunlight Tariff is a new program and The Grandin Theatre Foundation is the first nonprofit organization in the Roanoke Valley to utilize the opportunity to go green by using it. This is another great reason to watch local!
