UNMUTED: A Night of True Stories by Teens
Their voices are bold. Their stories are real. And the mic is officially on. UNMUTED will be a powerful, uplifting night of true stories told by teenagers—through spoken word, music, dance, film, poetry, and more.
These young storytellers are growing up in a world shaped by social media, COVID, school violence, bullying, identity struggles, and the fight for LGBTQ+ rights.
But they’re not just surviving—they’re creating, questioning, challenging, and rising. These are voices we don’t get to hear from often enough, and we feel certain we could all learn a thing or two! This is their space to speak freely. To share the moments that shaped them. To be heard not as hashtags or headlines, but as whole human beings. And it’s time we listen.
We’re calling all teen storytellers. Do you have a story to tell? A poem to perform? A song, dance, or video that captures what it’s like to be you in today’s world?
This is your moment. Your voice matters. Your story could change someone else’s.
——————- Parents, Guardians, Educators, Mentors, Counselors, Coaches! Is there a teen in your life who you know has a story to tell? Please share this call to action. We would love to hear your story idea. We are open to poems, dance, short videos, comedy, etc. We ask for pitches to be submitted in writing with a beginning, middle, and end. We look for originality, heart, humor, humanity, and humility. If your story is chosen, you will be coached throughout the process to bring your idea from the page to the stage. We know that you have something important to say, and we want to help your story shine!
